Hello everyone. One of the big differences between Japanese and western culture is that in the west we tend to spend a lot of time at our friends’ homes, we often have house parties (sometimes completely unplanned) so it isn’t unusual to be invited to or invite people to your home. Here are some phrase I hope you find useful if you ever find yourself in that situation.
- a dinner party 夕食会、晩餐会
- a barbecue バーベキュー
- a housewarming 新築祝い、引っ越し祝い
- a birthday party 誕生日パーティー
- watch the footballサッカーの決勝戦を見る
- a poker night 夜通しポーカーをすること
- a film night 夜通し映画を見る
- We are having a party on Saturday. Would you like to come? 土曜日にパーティーをします。よかったら来ませんか。
- Sounds fun, I’d love to come. 楽しそうですね。喜んで伺います。
- We are having a party next Saturday. Can you make it? 次の土曜日にパーティーをします。来られますか。
- Next Saturday? Yes, I can make it. 来週の土曜日。はい、行けます。
- Sorry, I’d love to, but I’m meeting a friend that day. ごめんなさい、行きたいけどその日は友達と会う予定です。
- No, I’m sorry. I can’t make it that day. いえ、すみません。その日はだめなんです。
- Oh, that’s a shame. I’ll invite you again next time. ああ、それは残念ですね。また次回お誘いします。
